About this course

Most people use AI assistants like a search box: they type a few words and get an average answer. The people getting great results write better instructions. That skill is called prompt engineering, and anyone can learn it.

In this practical course you'll learn a simple structure for writing prompts, proven techniques like giving examples and asking the AI to work step by step, and how to fix a bad answer instead of giving up. Then you'll apply them to real tasks: emails, reports, spreadsheets, studying, marketing for a small business, and customer replies in English and Swahili.

You'll finish with your own library of tested prompts you can reuse every day, and the judgement to know when not to trust the AI.

By the end you will be able to

  • Choose the right AI assistant for a task and use it safely
  • Write clear prompts using the role, task, context, format and constraints structure
  • Use examples, step-by-step reasoning and iteration to improve answers
  • Use AI to draft emails, reports, summaries and spreadsheet formulas
  • Create marketing content and customer replies for a small business
  • Check AI output for errors and protect private information
  • Build a personal prompt library for repeated tasks
